Beginning of the game got me frustrated. The controls stopped working - it was probably meant to do that - so I gave up.
Game has got me hooked, but like someone said below, the backtracking is way too annoying, and (but that's my own fault for not making notes) it could really use an indicator on the map that says whether a terminal is inactive or still active to use.
Ok, so I gave up, it's really just too much backtracking and searching. That really is its only flaw though, because all the rest of it has that perfect 'feel' for a game like this.
noice
Great game, could really use a save mechanism
Hi, i added ur game to my gb compo 25 video. I added subtitles like English (us) too. Hope u like it :)
Managed to find 4 of the hidden messages. Could not find #5 or 6.
It is an interesting game, though I found the backtracking to be a bit excessive.
I noticed two bugs while playing:
* If you are hit while you warp from one room to the next, you can survive the hit.
* If you are at the save point prior to the top-left room (new area for the final 9 batteries), get hit and sent back, the music remains does not revert to what the current room's music should be.
Amazing game, well crafted I managed to reach the end after several hours. I really loved the narrative and the way you slowly get your suit fixed while you see unreachable parts in rooms as you play to know to go there after the suit upgrades. I am also stunned by how big the game is and how the rooms are reused over and over again to lengthen the game.
I would have added more shortcuts though and indications in the map to where the batteries are (as soon as they have been discovered first) because it was really tiring to traverse through rooms again and again to find them again. Also, the checkpoints were at times annoyingly put in places where if you mistakenly went to a room where you thought there is a battery and there wasn't, now you can't die on purpose to go back, you have to go back room by room again.
But overall it is a great game, it took me 3-4 hours to finish but it kept me playing. There were times I wanted to just save the game and play it some other time (especially when getting tired to find again the batteries i saw at places before).
Well done!
amazing game could use save game mechanics though I got to the part where you need to get batteries for the double jump couldnt find the others and dont really want to go through all the areas again until I know I can go back to my file safely
awesome work!! I really enjoyed the narrative purpose of why your suit got damaged.
Love this! Really atmospheric!
Thank you for all the feedback — it’s been very helpful.
To assist players, I’ve uploaded a temporary map in the screenshots. More explanation in the devlog.
The temporary map was really helpful. I think the "dark" rooms I interpreted as off limits and after much back tracking re-investigated and found that lower area. That opened up the rest of things for me. Finally finished it. Great stuff :)
Thank you a lot.
Would be nice if some of the double jump requiring batteries are place in between levels more, rather than at the end of a one way section. Repeating the same one way section gets... repetitive.
Also first impression wise, using an easier to read font would be nicer...
The story was good enough that I start hugging the walls half way through...
Felt the most relief/glee when I got the 9 batteries...
A map would be really helpful. In game preferably, but downloadable would also help. Currently 1 battery short of getting the double jump and I have back tracked everywhere I could think of. More check points would be kinder in some areas and some of the back tracking was tedious and a little punishing. That might just be my experience getting thoroughly lost.
Really nice experience overall. The graphics, controls, puzzles and story are all nicely polished.
Cool game, but navigation is quite painful without a map.
this has great Metroid vibes and is a lot of fun to play through
